Que paso? Hope all is well out there. It’s been a nice start to the year for the Orlando Magic. We are 4-1 heading into tonight’s contest at Madison Square Garden vs. the Knicks. I will be watching the game from home due to a back injury I sustained earlier this week at practice. I’m excited for our team- hopefully we can finish out this road trip on a very high note by defeating the Knicks. Personally speaking, this definitely was not the way I envisioned the beginning of my second year. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a frustrating couple of weeks for me, personally. Between my hand injury, not playing much the first three games, and this minor back injury- I can’t wait to get healthy and start fighting for some playing time. My mom and I were at church in Washington, D.C., this past Sunday morning and the message was to let God be the author of our lives. Sometimes, we think we can control the path of our lives- but ultimately God tells His story through our lives. The phrase that stayed with me throughout this week is, “‘But I have other plans for you,’ says the Lord.” I relate this to my journey in basketball because I can try to plan out my whole career- week by week, month by month, and year by year- but the only thing that really matters is God’s plan for my life. I don’t know what exactly His plan is for me, all I can do is trust. And that’s a beautiful thing.
Needless to say, it’s been a weird week for me. I’ve been at my house and that’s about it. It’s a little surreal to be on the couch and be watching your teammates play at Minnesota. My rehab this week has gone well and my back is feeling much better. I’m not even sure what the official diagnosis of my injury was. My MRI didn’t show anything- in fact, the disc that was injured last summer looks much better on my most recent MRI. That’s good news. I’m working to be back next week.
Other than that, everything is good. I’m getting this small video camera called the Flip. I’ll be putting some of my own personal video content on the site. I’m hoping I’ll be healthy enough soon to put my terrible golf swing on here. Not that you guys care or anything. Anyway, I’m excited about the camera and I hope you guys enjoy the videos. I’m going to watch the Magic game tonight- hope everyone has a terrific weekend.
