August 3 Blog

Que paso? Hope everyone is doing well. I got back from Coach K Academy. It was one of the coolest experiences I’ve had.

For five days, me and the rest of the former players coached a bunch of guys (all 35 or older) as they played games in Cameron Indoor Stadium. My team went 2-4, which was kind of dissappointing because I thought we were better than that. I’m not going to lie, not many of these guys were very good at basketball. Most of them could play a little bit though. The best part for me was building relationships with men who are the best in their field (CEOs, wine makers, architects, bankers). Not only that, but I got to hang out with a lot of former players such as Jay Bilas, Alaa Abdelnaby, Kenny Dennard, and Dave Henderson. I hope to be back next year at the camp, hopefully my team will win the “K Academy National Championship” haha.

Things are pretty slow right now- I’m just getting ready to go back out to Vegas to practice with the National Team. Although I’m not going to make the team, competing against players like Kobe and Michael Redd and Mike Miller is an invaluable experience. This will only help me in the long run. I am truly honored to be a part of USA Basketball.

Not much else is going on- I’m actually reading a great book right now called Into the Wild. It was written in 1995 and it’s a true story about a 22 year-old college graduate who abandons conformity and the “normal” way of life and becomes a vagabond. He gave all his money to charity, hit the road, and hitchhiked across the country and ended up in the wilderness in Alaska. It’s a remarkable story about the adventurous nature of the human spirit. Some of you may have read it (it’s a national best-seller) but if you have not- go pick it up and make it the next book you read.

Lastly, I took down my myspace page- frankly I didn’t use it all that much and wanted a little bit more privacy on cyberspace so this site will be my only interaction with you guys.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I hope everyone keeps it real- that’s what’s really cool.

“For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God; they are now justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a sacrifice of atonement by His blood, effective through faith.”

Romans 3:23-24
