Although there are certain topics I’m always going to write about, I’d also like your input on what you want me to include in my blogs. I’m going to try and post a blog atleast once a week during the summer months. Because things are a little slower during this time of year, I won’t always talk about basketball in my blogs. Naturally, I’m going to cover any off-court activities, special events, and my general observations on things. I would love to take suggestions on what you guys want me to try and talk about. Let me know what you think by posting a comment. I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend. Mine was very relaxing. My best friend from high school came to visit me for the weekend. He works up in New York City. It was the first time in about five years that we got to hang out together. We grilled out at my house on Saturday night and watched the UFC fight. I had Lidell winning but Jackson really went after him. It was a great night of fights. On Monday morning I went to the gym and worked out with one of our assistant coaches, Mo Wiley. He played in the NBA for five years and he’s been a great person to talk to about the League. Not only that, Mo puts me through some rigorous workouts and Monday was no different. After my basketball workout and lifting, my brother and I met up with one of my teammates and we went out on the lake in my teammate’s boat. Hard to believe that I’ve lived in Orlando almost a year and Monday was the first time I’ve been out on the water here. I love water but frankly things are always so busy with basketball that I don’t always get to take full advantage of my location. Finally, I’ve tried to watch as much playoff basketball as possible so here’s a few random thoughts on the playoffs: 1) Lebron James is really good. No seriously, the last two games he’s played very aggressive and his teammates feed off of his energy and confidence. 2) It’s been fun watching the former Duke guys play so well. Chris and Luol were great for the Bulls. Those two guys, along with Kirk Heinrich and Ben Gordon, have been the foundation for the Bulls resurgence. Carlos Boozer has been a beast for the Jazz. You could make an argument that he’s now one of the top 5 power forwards in the NBA. The guy should be an all-star for years to come. 3) The summer after my freshman season I played on the 19 and under USA basketball team that competed in the U19 World Championships in Greece. One of guards on that team was Deron Williams. I could tell then that he was going to be a special player but I never thought he got the credit he deserved in college. He’s had a remarkable run in the playoffs and I’m glad to see that he’s finally getting his props. 4) With San Antonio winning the West tonight, my pick to win the East is Detroit. I think they’re too experienced and too deep for the Cavs. However, if Lebron plays like he did in game 3 and game 4, Cleveland will put up a heck of a fight. Everybody take care and enjoy the rest of the week. Please post any comments or suggestions you may have. Adios.
