The Magic is making another big mistake by not giving JJ Reddick an opportuity. Shaq
went to the lakers and look what happened. JJ can be the next Pistol Pete Maravich.
He is the blue diamond in the making. JJ Dont give up you have very good skills. Your record at Duke speaks for itself. You got Game.

JJ,
My entire household is a Duke fan. We are from Montana and we don’t miss any games. When we first saw you play we all were in awe. Since you left, it has been hard not seeing your talent on that court. Now that you are at Orlando, at least we can see you sometimes. I know it must be flusterating for you, but hang in there. We are praying for you every night. Keep at your dreams and never forget what you are out there to do. Not only for you, but for your family and friends. My dad always use to tell me, “When the times get rough, get tough”. By that time, you’ll dominate that court. Best wishes. Korri C. From Montana

hope this works… i can’t seem to post a comment/question…
Dear JJ
my name is Jasper Eden and i’m from the Netherlands. I don’t want to waste too much of your time saying how i good i think you are, just know me and my friends are huge fans.
my question: i have a streetbasketballteam for a couple of years now, called Retrho (meaning REspect, TRust & HOnour). Since january we’ve made it a business, organising basketballclinics for the dutch youth. Sadly, basketball isn’t too big here in Holland, but we’re trying to be an example for the children and teaching them how much joy and discipline basketball can give them.
My question might be a bit strange, but would you please consider giving us a little shout out????
audio/video/photo or just a simple line in an email to inspire our fans, would be incrediblebly appreciated.
i really hope to hear from you,
keep up the good work, i’m sure your time to shine will come. and you’ll be great.
respect, trust and honour,
Jasper Eden

JJ,
I have been privileged enough to watch you play since high school. I went to Alleghany. Ya’ll would always beat us, but I loved watching you play! I was amazed when you went to Duke and at all the hard work you had to put in to it. You really have been an inspiration to me. I’ve always admired your basketball ability, but the best part is that you seem like such a great person. I imagine you must be going through a hard time right now but just try to stay positive. God will lead you through it. Continue to work hard and don’t lose faith.
Kim | on 11/2/08
JJ, As a fan, I am disappointed in the amount of play time that you are getting with the Magic. I have watched you play from your days at Duke and I am still impressed with your shooting ability.God has a plan for your life and I believe he is using this situation to make you a stronger person. Your time is coming because God has given you a special gift. Only God knows what your future holds just be ready when he opens that door. Be proud of what you have accomplished so far because you have done more in a few short years than most people do in a lifetime. You are truely blessed with a good family, friends, coaches, and a lot of fans. I pray for you daily.

Hey JJ!!
I just want to take a minute and tell you how amazing you are. You are the best player that I can think of. Yes, some may disagree, but it’s the truth. I’ve looked up to you for so long now and you just keep me going. I know you’re going through some tough times right time, but remember you’re not the only one. I should know…I’ve got my own worries. I just want you to remember that your fans will always behind you NO MATTER WHAT!! I believe you will do GREAT things with the Magic, but you have to remember everything doesn’t always come when you wanted it. It will happen when you least expect it. Anyways, I just wanted you to know that I’m always gonna your number 1 fan and no matter what you’ll always be the greatest basketball player in my book!! Keep you head up!!
Always,
Amber G.

JJ,
Your Christian beliefs have been an inspiration to me in more ways than one. Two verses that I know are important to you (Joshua 1:9 and Philippians 4:13) should hold even more meaning considering the trials you are going through right now. They have definitely been valuable to me. BTW, if you ever need help with your golf game, I can set you up with one of my best friends that lives in Orlando who’s a former teaching pro. Best of luck with everything!
Nicole | on 11/2/08
You must have been stoked with Duke’s victory over the Tar Heels last Wednesday. After the Magic game we headed over the Clubhouse in downtown Orlando. I was the lone Duke fan amidst a sea of Tar Heel blue. Victory couldn’t have been sweeter! I’ve gone to several Magic games this season and haven’t been fortunate enough to see you play. VanGundy truly underestimates your talent. Your positive attitude throughout this whole ordeal is remarkable and inspiring. Every game I’ve attended, you are the first player off the bench and onto the court to support/congratulate your teammates before the timeout huddles. It will be a huge loss if you leave Orlando, but I wish you the best of luck, regardless!
Sheila | on 11/2/08
J.J. I just read the recent article about your situation. With your trust in God, remember, God does not give us more than we can handle. Pray for strength to endure this hardship and KNOW without a doubt that on the other side of this mountain is an even stronger J.J. God uses hardships and mountains in our lives to shape us and make us more like him each day. Keep smiling, keep working hard, keep focusing on him. You will reach the other side! God is good and wants to give us the desires of our heart! Keep on “pressing toward the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus!” (besides I will be really upset if you get traded or aren’t on the team before we get to watch you this March!! lol!)
Lauren | on 10/2/08
Wow, this latest J.J. just wants to survive article in the Orlando paper was tough to read. Regardless of SVG’s confusing coaching never EVER EVER give up on the talent you were given. You were born to play basketball and you will again whether it’s in Orlando or somewhere else. Keep your spirits up … we’re all still rooting for you!!
Katie | on 10/2/08
You rock! Can’t wait to see your golf videos!
Amy | on 10/2/08
Hey! Thanks for the audio blog update. It’s nice to hear your voice! :)
I bet you play golf a lot better than me…I like to pretend I’m playing hockey whenever I’m playing putt-putt golf since I have a really horrible swing. Ha!
Like many of your fans, I too feel that you should have more playing time since you are indeed very talented.
As a student who is struggling to find her place in life as a writer, I can understand with how you’re feeling. I apologize if I’m committing some sort of fallacy, considering with the situation you’re going through as a NBA player isn’t exactly the same as the issues I’m dealing with. For me, it feels as if it’s impossible for me to accomplish my goals in life since I have to worry about college work and a job I utterly detest. I’m unsure with whether or not I should ditch transferring to an unviersity for my B.A. and just venture out in the “real world” as a novice writer. And lately, I’ve been struggling with writing which makes things even more complicated for me since I need to obviously submit writings for my creative writing class. Yet, I remember once being told that I should not give up on faith and to keep following my dreams.
So, whatever you do, keep hanging onto faith. And, of course, to never give up. This is kinda contradicting for me since I am having a hard time in “keeping my head high,” and to keep on having faith in myself, in whatever I do in life, and well, God. But, I believe much greater things will happen to you very soon. As mentioned before, I hope you do get more playing time. I find your passion for basketball very admirable and you seem like a really good, modest guy. Which is why we feel that you should have a much bigger role for your team.
Gah, so sorry for leaving you a really long comment. Gah! Hope you have a good week.
-Amy

JJ…I have to say that you have so many more fans than you even realize. Not only do you have those who marvel at your basketball skills and look forward to seeing you get the amount of p.t. you deserve but there are thousands who admire your character even more. I want to thank you for reaching out to a family that means so much to so many. Your generosity has warmed our hearts and given us another link to Pat that will last a lifetime. I’m sure he’s smiling down. Thanks again and we’re all praying for only the best for you. (PRG 5-23-85 / 7/15/07)

Hey JJ. Don’t give up. I believe good things happen to good people, and you are a good person. Just continue to believe in yourself and your basketball talent. If it turns out Orlando is not the place, I know there is a team in the NBA that would welcome your shooting, like my fave team The Heat. I was a big fan of yours from Duke and I look forward to rooting for you in the NBA for years to come. God Bless.
Amber | on 10/2/08
Hey J.J., I hope you see some floor soon you really deserve it. I’m glad you got to see some duke games, they’re beasting it up this year. I know Greg Paulus has said something along the lines of he’d like to come back to Duke and be on the coaching staff one day, have you given any thought to that yourself?
Just know that you have a lot of fans out here that believe in you

JJ, keep your head in the game. You looked good in the Lakers game. Much improved from earlier in the season. It’s got to be a sign of good things to come. Don’t be embarrassed by the attention you get from your fans. They’re waiting just as patiently as you are. Go with the flow and savor the moments. It won’t be long and the fans will be cheering your name in every game. Good things happen to those who wait.

Love the new website and audio blog. Are you still going to be doing the top 5 lists? You should do your top 5 Jay Z songs(I know hard to only pick 5 but that would be an amazing list). I am a HUGE Jay Z fan and i would love to hear what your favorite songs are. Also I would love to see you play for Sacramento. They are getting a lot better. I might go to a few games if you played for them….hell i might even root for them to win!
Good Luck with the golf game…recently took it up and it can be a bit frustrating!..hope your swing is coming along….
Best of luck with the rest of the season.

Hey JJ….what up? Glad you got some playing time tonight against the Lakers. Kobe should have gotten a charging foul called for running you down in the lane!! So glad to see you back on the court tonight. LOVE this new website!! YOU ROCK!! I’m enjoying reading your blogs and hearing your audio blog. What a great idea!! Hope you do some more appearances in Orlando soon. My family and I met you back in December and it was such a thrill!! You’re the only player my 5 year old son talks about! I know it bugs you and sorry for that, but yes, my son is one of those crazy fans (like the rest of my family) that chants “We Want JJ” at the Magic games. Most of the people who sit around us find it quite enjoyable =) Anyways…..take care of yourself and hang in there. I feel your frustrations as well in the lack of playing time you get and even if you do leave Orlando, you’ll always have my support, just as you have from the day you walked on the Duke University campus. God bless and hope to talk to you again soon!!

Whats up, I watched all of your duke games and how u set all those records. I watch so many of your youtube videos. I hope to be just like you one day. What are your secrets of shooting so well. Email me back at jamesariddle@aol.comJosh | on 8/2/08
JJ, I’m a big fan and a Magic season ticket holder. I am really frustrated that you are not getting the minutes you deserve. I would think that your perimeter shooting would be a huge asset to the team. I can’t help but wonder if there is some sort of personality conflict between you and SVG. I know that Keith Bogans is a solid player, but it seems to me that your shooting is just as good if not better. Van Gundy should at least give you some of those minutes, at least as much as Evans.
Frankly, I didn’t think much of Bogans last season, but he seems much improved this season. I think the reason he got better is that he is getting minutes on the floor. That is exactly what you need to get to the next level. I just really hope that SVG wakes up and starts using you before you end up somewhere else. Over the years, I have seen the Magic do this over and over again; they trade away a player for peanuts and then they blossom somewhere else e.g. Ben Wallace.
It’s nuts! As a Magic fan, I do really hope you stay, but I understand why you would want to leave.
Chris | on 8/2/08
Please keep trucking and keep the spirits high. I know you will be a force for the Magic soon. SVG is a little blind right now. But I know you will be a HUGE asset for this team. Your lighting fast release, quickness off double screens and good floor vision are all things that this team needs at times. I hope you get in the rotation soon, because I want you to continue your love for the game as an Orlando Magic player and not opponent that drops 30 points on us like…..Corey Maggette and Mike Miller both players the Magic never gave a shot.
I will continue the chants during the games.
Larry | on 8/2/08

I’ve been a big fan since your early days at Duke…I’ve never gotten a chance to see you play in person but I’ve always tried to keep up when the games are on tv. However, I was privileged enough to attend your recognition dinner that was held in Roanoke, VA a couple of years ago and I had a great time there. I think you should be very proud of all that you’ve accomplished and I wish you nothing but the best. Hope all is well and good luck with everything.
oh yeah, GO HOKIES:)

JJ way to suport the DUKE NATION. I just hope you dont ever give up because you have the skills to play at any level. you are one of the biggest insperations to me, no matter all the harrasiment you went through on the way and all the critcs all you did was prove them wrong. i remeber watching the hyped freshman out of Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, 2769 will always be in my mind i remember when you scored that i remeber when you first dunked during a game ha. lets just say your move the draining beyond the nba range threes than dunking. anyways i live in wisconsin and ive been a Duke fan sense i can remember i naturally having your signed jersery hanging in my room and being a Duke fan living in wisconsin i sure take alot of heat for it but its worth it. i just dont want you to give up and show them what you have prove them wrong. God will show you the way keep your head up. and never give up, taking advice from a 16 year old whos only dream since he was 4 was to go to duke. ha anyways i dont know if your allowed to and i know you have alot of comments to go through but if you want/ can hit me back dukeplaya4eva21@yahoo.com keep it up man and dont ever give up. in God we trust..

Hey JJ! I literally think that I was the happiest person alive when Duke dominated UNC last night…it was great. I think that it’s great that you might get traded, I mean don’t get me wrong, I love Orlando, but I only liked them b/c YOU were playing for them. They just didn’t give you a chance. I just hope you do the best thing for yourself. Do what’s right. & always remember…be strong

J.J. DID YOU SEE THAT THEY ASKED YOU IF YOU WATCHED THE GAME, come on now we know you did. Big Win though, I dont really know if you even look at these things but like you said never give up hope im the same age as you and ive followed your whole career and everyones doughted you from the start but keep pushing forward i would love to see people hate you in the NBA like they hated you at DUKE. but you will hear alot more out of me! your number 1 true fan…. Ray P.
T.S. | on 7/2/08
J.J., I’m glad you listened to me and asked for that trade. Big win by Duke last night. I watched the 2004 game at Carolina beforehand, and you had a big bucket my friend. Do watchu do!
Cathey | on 7/2/08
Did you watch the Duke-UNC game last night? Great game, nothing better than beating Carolina at Carolina. Just remember, God never gives us more than we can handle, and there is a reason for everything that happens in our lives. Take heart, you’re blessed with talent most people dream of and you’ll get a chance to use it.
Mark | on 7/2/08
J.J., hey man i’ve been watching you since your freshman year at duke, i seriously consider myself one of your biggest fans, keep up the hard work and prove all the critics wrong, your my idol in basketball and you’ll get your chance.
Joe | on 7/2/08
Just wanted to let you know that you even have people in Germany supporting you who can’t believe the lack of playing time you get with the Magic right now! My buddies and I loved watching you all through college and it sucks to see your pro career start out like this. What an awesome outside threat you’d be to complement Howard under the boards. Well, I really hope they either finally gonna appreciate you for what you are or trade you to a team that will give you a fair shot at a starting spot! Right now you don’t seem to get any shot at all which is unbelievable based on what you do whenever you do get a chance to be on the floor. As soon as you get your minutes everyone will be able to see that you are definitely a NBA player! I mean everything you did at Duke didn’t just happen by accident. Tony was absolutely right on PTI: “If guys like Jason Kapono and Steve Kerr have a place in the NBA, so does J.J. Redick.”
Keep your head up, keep working hard and hopefully everything will fall into place.
Btw, great win against UNC last night wasn’t it?
Calli | on 6/2/08
On this most glorious of Duke-win nights – just want you know you’re still thought of. Hope you got to see the game.
Good luck tomorrow – you know we are all rooting for you. Wherever you go, in life and in basketball.

i love that you are so positive. you should come to Utah, we need three point shooting and a player like you. Keep at it an practice that swing.
Steph | on 6/2/08
JJ,
Its definitely a lot nicer to hear your voice it helps us understand your true feelings. I have faith that you will one day get your chance to play and dominate in the NBA. I hope the day you start I am able to see you START your first game. I wish Orlando was closer to North Carolina in distance so I could see a real Orlando game but it wouldn’t be worth it unless you were actually playing.
Anyway, continue to stay positive and you will see the reward.
Trust in God!
Stephanie
Alex G | on 6/2/08
Hey, i feel bad about the trade situation it’s not fair that your not playing and you can have an opportunity somewhere else. The magic are very selfish and otis smith is not thinking what is best for you. As SVG he is not taking advatage but eventually weither you get traded or you leave during free agency I hope you can prove them wrong. And show how bad they did at handling you. Well best of luck and hopefully a trade can happen for the best. LOL you could even try getting them super ticked till they do finally trade you but at least make them do somethin.
Lauren | on 6/2/08
Hey JJ,
Hope you are staying strong and are keeping your head up! Lucky you can golf down there still! Can’t wait to see your swing! Ha-ha…I hope you got my letter, it’s too bad we haven’t been in contact for awhile now. I have to go though I’m watching the Duke versus Unc game right now!
Lots of love.
Jen | on 6/2/08
JJ keep up the hard work, you are a great player that isn’t getting the playing time he deserves:) What ever happens we all are behind you.
Mike | on 6/2/08
Hey man, you’re one of the best. You absolutely dominated the college game when everyone who wasn’t a Duke fan was against you. Now you’re in the NBA and you’re not seeing alot of time and you still stay positive. You’re one of the strongest guys to play any sport and you deserve alot of respect for that.
Kyle | on 6/2/08
JJ, COME TO THE MAVS! we can recognize great players.
Chris (GO MAGIC) | on 6/2/08
Keep your head up JJ. You’ll get your time, even if it’s with another team. I hope it doesn’t come to that, I’d love to see you stay with the magic. Look at it this way, your getting paid good money to stay in shape, travel, and have court side seats to every game, enjoy it. I know that doesn’t compare to playing but its a much better situation that most of us folks that don’t have your jump shot.
Lauren | on 6/2/08
I just want to say how sad it is that the Magic won’t use the talent that they have. You are obviously the first choice when it comes to that shooting guard position, and you earned it with your play in the summer leage. I have been a long time Duke fan, and continue to be one. Stay strong, and hopefully you will get the oppurturnity to show everyone what you can do.
Whatever you Want it to be | on 6/2/08
P.S. I can’t wait to see you play the cavs soon. I don’t care if you beat them as long as you get a chance to play.
Whatever you Want it to be | on 6/2/08
I like the new audio blog it was pretty sweet. I pumped for the Duke, UNC game. Duke is goin all the way. I really want to see you play golf. I hope you aren’t as bad as I am.
Rachel | on 6/2/08
I know it’s hard right now, but your chance to show everyone in the league what a great player you are will come! All of your fans already know that and will stay loyal to you no matter where you go or what you do! Keep us updated on what’s going on! Oh yeah GO DUKE!!!
Claire | on 6/2/08
It’s sad that now you have to just sit and wait for something “weird” to happen so your name will be called. You should be first in line for the shooting guard spot…there is nobody on the magic roster that can shoot the ball even half as well as you can. I’ve read all the articles from Stan and Otis and they still haven’t given any solid reasons to why you shouldn’t be playing. Your defense is clearly underrated. Did summer league mean nothing to those guys who promised you a spot in the rotation. Thanks for keeping hope, it makes me stay positive about the situation and believe that sometime soon it will be your time once again to shine. I’ll hopefully be coming to the game in Det. on the 19th…look for me 1st row behind your bench ;-)

J.J. Stay strong all thats all you can do is keep yourself is the best possible shape and suppost the team you play for. Been a huge Duke fan since I was a little kid and I have seen two of your best games. Watched you play in NJ against Texas when you nailed 41 pts and also sawyou play at BC the first time Duke came up hear to Boston. I have also seen every Orlando/Celtics game since you joined the NBA so stay strong love that your a sox fan that is wicked awesom and have a good rest of the season. Come on up to Boston and play with KG and Pierce. Also hope you get to catch the DUKE/UNC games tonight. Go Duke!
